Studies have shown there are two things that can help you live a happier, healthier life: 1) Connecting with Others, and
2) Having Fun.
Partner yoga can help you do both! Join Lesley Pelkey, E-RYT, and George Charalambous, E-RYT, for this playful workshop as we explore connection, support and trust through partner poses.
Partner yoga is not a substitute for an individual practice but is a way to inform and strengthen your capacity to connect to the world around you as well as yourself. Selected postures are non-acrobatic and designed to stretch and strengthen the body.
Here are a few other tidbits--
This workshop is not just for lovers, it’s for EVERYONE!
It’s a great way to introduce yoga to someone new.
All levels welcome.
No experience and no partner is necessary.
Come and join Us! We think you will find that a partner is the one of the best props you can have!

Arm Balance + Inversions Workshop
Sun, Dec 3, 2017 at 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Arm Balances and Inversions – the pathway for progression with Heidi Malano
. Arm balances and inversions can be extremely beneficial when practiced safely. They challenge your comfort zone, help you gain strength, a new perspective, overcome fears and much more... Despite the many reasons to incorporate some of these postures into your practice there is still a lot of mystery around how one can progress. Even an experienced practitioner can feel intimidated, stuck and bound by limitation.
Please join Heidi Malano as she leads us on the pathway for progression. She will be teaching healthy skill building techniques, proper alignment and the anatomical awareness necessary for overcoming some of the physical and mental challenges associated with getting upside down and/or learning to fly. This is a great way to bring new levels of confidence and courage into your practice.
Sat, Dec 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
The more you practice yoga, the more important it is to practice mindfully! Join us for a detailed exploration of the poses in the Journey: 60 sequence. Learn functional anatomy and physiology, a basic understanding of the musculoskeletal system and how to correctly align and perform the poses in the sequence. A few key pointers will help you open up those hips, keep your knees safe, and help you move in a way to develop a balanced, strong body. This workshop is useful for both beginning students and those who have practiced for a while and want to review alignment. We’ll address common challenges and demonstrate helpful modifications. This is a great opportunity to check-in, ask questions, and receive actionable feedback. $20 pre-register, $25 at door.
Nidra with Intention
Sat, Dec 16, 2017 at 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Grab your favorite pillow and blankies and join us for Yoga Nidra! Nidra is a unique opportunity to plant seeds for what you want to cultivate in your life. We will begin the workshop by discussing how to develop an intention and incorporate it into your yoga practice. Then, we will incorporate the intention into a deeply relaxing session of Yoga Nidra. The added bonus: the sweet experience of stress relief during the busy holiday season!
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a sleep-based guided meditation technique designed to allow you to rest below the level of the thinking mind and find a state of deep relaxation throughout the body and mind.
Each session includes guided body awareness, breath awareness, and self awareness. The session may begin with gentle movement as we transition from our busy day to peaceful stillness. This class is not a movement based yoga class; rather, movement is used as a tool to bring you closer to stillness.
What's unique about this workshop?
Did you know that Yoga Nidra allows you to release stress and can also be used to assist with modifying behaviors, modifying thought patterns, and connecting with your higher Self? We will discuss many of the physical, psychological/behavioral, and spiritual benefits that can be experienced through practicing Yoga Nidra.
This workshop will focus on how to integrate intention into your Yoga Nidra practice. We will begin the workshop by exploring “intention”. Whether you are experienced with setting an intention for your yoga practice or this is a new concept for you, we will explore methods for choosing an intention and opportunities to plant the seeds of your intention in your Yoga Nidra practice.
Benefits of Yoga Nidra:
Studies show that just 20 minutes of breathing, intentional relaxation, and entering deeper brainwave states (as in sleep), can boost learning, memory, energy, and focus. Additionally, these techniques can lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, bring the body into balance, and prevent a host of stress-related diseases.
This technique helps reduce symptoms associated with physical, mental, and emotional ailments such as pain, anxiety, depression, and insomnia among others. It also helps by allowing you to disengage from stress-producing thoughts.
Yogis say that 30 minutes of Nidra is similar to getting 3 hours of regular sleep.

Yoga TempleGreg believes the journeys of our lives are multiply determined; but the outcome which yoga brings to body, mind, and spirit (physical, non-physical, and metaphysical), raises the consciousness of healing and puts us in touch with healing grace. These workshops will explore the theme through introductory readings from Christian and yoga texts and will experiment with theme-based asana. Each session will conclude with a song accompanied by singing and guitar.Greg started yoga in Hawaii, when after moving furniture up a two story building, was on the floor and unable to move because of previous back injury. He decided he’d better do something and noticed yoga was offered everywhere. He took it up and has not stopped since. Yoga took care of his back and put him in touch with an embodied spirituality. When in the scripture we read, “Come to me all who labor and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest.” It’s only a nice idea unless we actually know what that feels like. The church does not practice embodying its spirituality. Yoga does. After a challenging practice, we rest in deep savasana. That is when our minds and bodies can come together and understand what it is to give up heavy burdens and truly rest. This is how yoga is healing grace and a simple example of how yoga moves spirituality into the body. Our bodies (referred to often as temples) hold a brilliant genius, and they are perfect their ability to communicate healing to our physical, non-physical, and metaphysical self. With input from scriptural traditions, pranayama, comments of participants, asana, meditation, and music, workshoppers will embody their spirituality and the healing grace of yoga.More About This Course

YOGA TEMPLE: Embodying the Healing Grace of Yoga
These workshops provide yogis the experience of embodying their spirituality. Based on brief readings from scripture, participants will explore theme based commentary through mindful asana, pranayama, meditation, and music. Attendees will become keenly aware of how yoga puts healing grace into their bodies – which changes everything.
In church worship, most of the time we stand, kneel, or sit in chairs. In rare cases there’s movement beyond this. But we can’t know scripture or spirituality in our bones – embody it – if the body is not involved. But the 10-trillion living cells of our bodies hold a brilliant genius which is perfect in design and function. And if we put ourselves in position to receive the pure healing consciousness of yoga, it relaxes the mind and restores the full person. Trusting the message of yoga’s healing grace, we reverse the familiar mind-body energy assertiveness to a less familiar body-mind receptivity and everything changes. How is this spiritual? Come to the workshops and find out!
Attendees will experience Dr. Ormson as a trustworthy and experienced spiritual guide. They will follow transparent lessons and yearn to ask deeper questions of how a dedicated yoga practice is healing grace for body, mind, and spirit. My message is not new, but just like you my life has been multiply determined; and now I interpret my life history and education-formation - both in academia and in the rough and tumble work world - as preparation for being truly present when I arrive on the mat or arrive at the pose. In a brief repose before a challenge, Hamlet said, “The readiness is all.” Are you ready to deepen your yoga practice and explore spiritual embodiment? If so, I will see you in the workshops.
